Each session uses a Sechrist monoplace chamber: one person inside, with staff in the room who can see you through the clear shell and talk with you during treatment.
We review records from your surgeon, wound clinic, dentist, or oncologist and add HBOT to the care they are already providing.
Inside the chamber you breathe oxygen while the pressure around you is higher than the room you walked in from. More oxygen dissolves into the blood, including the plasma, and can reach tissue that ordinary circulation is not supplying well.
You are treated in a Sechrist 3600 monoplace chamber at our Brooklyn clinic: one person in the chamber, with the hyperbaric team in the room.
One patient is treated in a single chamber. The session is focused on you, and the hyperbaric team monitors it from the room.
You can see the treatment room and the staff. Many people find that easier than a fully enclosed metal chamber.
You can talk with your hyperbaric technician during the session, including if you want the pressure brought down.
You do not have to lie perfectly still. You can change position, rest, or watch a screen when one is available—ask the team what is offered when you schedule.
Staff review your health history, explain how pressure changes feel, and show you how to clear your ears comfortably.
You breathe oxygen while pressure increases and holds at the level ordered for your plan. A technician remains nearby and can talk with you throughout.
Pressure is lowered gradually. The team checks how you feel before you leave and discusses the next steps in your plan.
Physicians and nurse practitioners review whether HBOT fits your diagnosis, stay in touch with the clinicians already caring for you, and oversee the course if treatment goes ahead.

A clinician reviews your diagnosis, medications, and recent imaging or wound records, then recommends HBOT when the potential benefit outweighs the risks for your situation.
Many hyperbaric visits last on the order of 90 minutes, including time to pressurize and depressurize the chamber. Your order may differ. The clinic confirms the schedule for your plan.
Courses vary widely—from a few sessions to several weeks of daily treatment—based on the condition being treated and how you respond. Your clinician sets the plan and adjusts it as needed.
Cost depends on the treatment plan and whether your insurer authorizes HBOT for your diagnosis. Contact the clinic with your insurance details so staff can explain verification steps and self-pay options.
Ear barotrauma from pressure change, temporary vision changes, and fatigue are among the effects discussed in hyperbaric medicine. Some lung conditions, untreated pneumothorax, certain medications, and other factors can make HBOT unsafe. Screening happens before treatment.
